Dear Village of Winnebago Residents,

It is hard to believe it has been over 5 years since the “Art on Fire” fire hydrant painting contest. It was a great contest with a lot of outstanding artwork done, however at this time some of the hydrants are beginning to need a fresh coat of paint. Please be on the lookout for maintenance and painting happening in the upcoming weeks. During this time, there will be color coding of the hydrants for fire flow as well as general hydrant maintenance.   This being said, if you would like to maintain artwork on a hydrant that is sentimental to you, please place masking tape around the top of the hydrant and we will leave it for you to touch up. There are various groups such as school groups and the Boy Scouts that are in need of service projects at times, and this provides them with a great opportunity. Currently, there is a school organization that will be working on the hydrants around the school neighborhoods. With enough feedback from the community, the Village will see the “Art on Fire” contest occur this spring.  If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming maintenance and painting, please feel free to contact the Village Hall at (815) 335-2020.

Thank you.
