Welcome to Winnebago, Illinois!

 

The Village of Winnebago is a quiet community of 3,101 residents approximetly 15 miles west of Rockford, Illinois, just south of U.S. Highway 20.  Winnebago is home to Winnebago Community School Unit School District #323 providing education for our children grades K-12, Winnebago has an exceptional Winnebago Public Library that hosts the annual Farmer’s Market May – October,  a Winnebago Park District with year round activities, and a fully trained volunteer Fire Department.  The historic downtown area has inviting shops, several types of services, and excellent restaurants.  The downtown area is also where the Village Hall and Police Department are located.

There is also a commerce area at Winnebago corners at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Elida Street, which has several restaurants, a clinic, a pharmacy, a large grocery store, a hardware store, several banks, and gas stations.  The Winnebago Area Chamber of Commerce produces many engaging activities throughout the year.  For summer time fun Hurd Young Park hosts softball leagues and tournaments, Memorial Park in downtown has a variety of recreational equipment.   The Winnebago 4th of July Family Fest is 2 days of family fun and activites that is kicked off by a spectacular parade and finished with traditional fireworks.
